What Tarot Card Represents You?

What card represents you?

During my very first tarot lesson, my teacher asked what card, out of the whole deck, represents you as the reader? My first reaction was to shuffle through the deck and pick out the major arcana to choose from. Then I paused. Why did I have to pick one of the majors? This was an aha! moment for me. The majors suddenly dropped down a few levels, and were now of equal importance to the minors. All cards have important lessons to teach. Three of Cups teaches just as important of a lesson as Death does. Perhaps a Three of Cups teaches a smaller, less impactful lesson than Death, but just as important. Size doesn’t matter in this case!
Anywho back to the main point. I shuffled through the cards really looking at each one. This was before I knew the commonly accepted card meanings, but had a good understanding of what they meant to me. I finally selected the Ace of Wands as the card that represents me. Why? Well, let me tell you using my favorite Ace of Wands card from the Animal Totem Tarot.
Fire and in this case a firefly, has the potential to shine no matter the circumstance. But, under the right conditions the light they cast is truly luminous. Imagine a field of fireflies at night. Blinking on and off. Hundreds of them. Breathtaking, right? Now imagine just one firefly in the palm of your hand. His little butt is lighting up casting a glow in your cupped hand. You think how can just one tiny bug shine so brightly? Now fast forward to daylight and that little bug is still glowing, but the effect is much less exciting. The Ace of Wands represents me because like the little firefly the potential to shine is always there, but when I’m in my element my light is radiant.
Ace of Wands teaches us to remember our potential no matter the circumstance, but it’s okay to go unnoticed sometimes. We know where our talents will make the most impact. We don’t always have to be the star of the show to share our gift with the world. Find your niche, and you will shine baby!
